The Hexagon House is a residential structure designed by Vittorio Giorgini in 1957. Its uniqueness lies in its hexagonal shape, making it interesting as an early example of modular architecture. Indeed, starting from this basic form, the author thought it would be interesting to design a housing system that could somehow be composed of different cellular structures; an explicit reference in nature can be found in the lattice structures of beehives. Moreover, the Hexagon House is raised from the ground by wooden pillars that thermally isolate it, thus combating the humidity that, understandably, exists given its seaside location. Giorgini’s ‘area’ solution is certainly almost prehistoric yet at the same time modern, if not futuristic.
The tour starts from our Rental Shop in San Vincenzo.
