Day 1: Visit to the Baratti and Populonia Archaeological Park

The morning is dedicated to exploring two Etruscan necropolises. The oldest overlooks the blue waters of the Gulf of Baratti and features monumental tombs of Etruscan noble rulers, preserved for over 2,000 years. A highlight is the emotional entrance to the Tomb of the Chariots, nearly 30 meters in diameter. The Cave Road leads to the Necropolis of the Grottos, with hypogean tombs carved into the characteristic “panchina” stone.

In the afternoon, visit the acropolis of Populonia, surrounded by impressive walls. The archaeological remains reveal the city’s life after Rome’s conquest, including temples, the grand sacred road, and the sanctuary dedicated to Venus. The structures still display their ancient splendor, such as the mosaics adorning an aristocratic villa and the public baths, the oldest in Etruria.

Optional: Lunch at the park’s restaurant.

Day 2: Visit and Wine Tasting at Petra Winery

Petra Winery is a natural oasis nestled in the unique landscape of Val di Cornia. Designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, it harmoniously blends form and function, creating a low-impact, eco-conscious space. The design reflects the journey from grape to bottle, offering a sensory experience of Tuscany Wine Architecture.

In the afternoon, visit the charming village of Suvereto, awarded the Touring Club Italiano’s “Orange Flag” for excellence in tourism, hospitality, and sustainability.

Accommodation: A stay in a local agriturismo.
